HCI Vistas is an Indian e-publication, where the budding interaction designers and usability engineers are encouraged to write and publish short articles. It is a formal medium for them to share their original insights and experiences acquired during professional practice.
I have observed that people write brilliant things while discussing as part of e-mail groups but such communication remains spontaneous and inarticulate. As a result, it vanishes in the noise of e-mails from other respondents and multiple threads of discussions. It simply evaporates in the cyberspace! Therefore, it is felt that you write short articles for HCI Vistas. It will have domestic as well as international readership.
The Indian HCI community at large does not have access to international journals published in the developed countries. HCI Vistas is envisioned to fill up this vacuum as a humble beginning. I strongly believe that this will help in cross-pollination of ideas across domains, knowledge sharing, and finally moving up the value chain. It is very much necessary as the Indian HCI community is in its infancy.
This year, as it is just the beginning, there is no insistence on research-intensive articles or scientific rigor. I appeal to all usability practitioners in India to contribute useful and insightful articles and take full advantage of this opportunity.
Many of you must be wondering about why am I doing this?
It is to honour the 'Live & Die HCI' spirit of the community!
